5 differences between DocuSign and Smallpdf eSign

by Kristina Wagner

How does Smallpdf eSign stack up to DocuSign?

Differences

  1. DocuSign is focussed solely on signing. Smallpdf offers a suite of additional features to help manage client packages, including tools to combine documents, rotate pages, and compress large files.

  2. A personal subscription to DocuSign least expensive plan will set you back $120 annually. A Smallpdf subscription will cost you $48. Both services also offer monthly subscriptions: $15/month for DocuSign or $6/month for Smallpdf. The yearly sub is worth it, but don't forget to try eSigning for yourself for free before you buy.

  3. Smallpdf currently deals primarily in eSignatures. DocuSign supports digital signatures. Either can be legally binding depending on your local legislation.

  4. Smallpdf lets you send two documents an hour to be signed, for free forever. You have to upgrade to Smallpdf Pro to send more than two files an hour. DocuSign offers a time-based trial period. After this time period you must upgrade your DocuSign subscription.

  5. Smallpdf is headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland. DocuSign is headquartered in San Francisco, in the United States.

  3. Document management is just as important as being able to send a document. Smallpdf offers a document overview for Pro users. DocuSign offers a document overview for logged in users.

  4. Both services allow you to save your electronic signature for future use, which saves you the trouble of struggling with your mouse every time you want to add your John Hancock.

  5. Smallpdf and DocuSign make it easy to sign on mobile. If your client is answering their email while boarding in Dubai, the ability to sign is in their pocket.
